Product Description

Welcome to La Cafetiere, the real hot drinks experts. Our classic Cafetiere, which is now in its 40th year, was the original plunger-type coffee maker to be marketed in the UK. This award-winning product is now widely recognised as a Design Icon by houseware specialists worldwide and, of course, remains a favorite with customers to this day. As a consequence, the La Cafetiere brand has become synonymous with both design classic and its reputation for quality and innovation. The last few years have seen La Cafetiere develop further this enviable reputation by widening our availablity to the market place. Historically there has been a special emphasis on coffee; however, we have identified trends that have led us into the resurgent market for tea and even more recently into the growing the drinking chocolate sector, through the development of our La Chocolatiere range of products. La Cafetiere continues to work closely with professional partners in all areas. This has allowed La Cafetiere to expand on its familiar range of coffee makers and into the complete hot drinks story.

good replacement

I dont know why people says this is so easy to break. The one I got is actually thicker than the one that came withBodum Brazil. My last beaker that came with the La Cafetiere french presslasted me more than a year. During this period, I dropped it to the sinkmany times, 3" to 6" fall, without breaking/chipping it.Then when it broke, I got the Bodum Brazil. That beaker lasted me only 1 month. It is thinner, the sprout is pointier and the tip is quite thin that can beeasily chipped. Then I got this La Cafetiere replacement, again thicker than the Bodum.Of course it will shatter some day, but from the same amount of impact, this feelslasting longer than the other guy.

does the job

got to replace my 2nd glass out of bodum press. It sucks that a bit of glass has to cost so much. if this one breaks im buying a stainless press. If you're wondering yes it does work in the bodum 8 cup.

fits my 25-year-old La Cafetière coffee press

Not much to say, it fits my La Cafetière purchased in the UK 25 years ago.The glass (now "made in China") is a little heavier weight than the original. It also fits the metal frame a little more tightly -- too tightly, I would say, since I slide the beaker out every time I clean the press (when I do this, I set the frame aside and wash out only the beaker and disassembled plunger bits). If you just leave the beaker in all the time, then you won't care. The original beaker was already a tight fit, even with the screw left loosened, so the new one isn't that much bigger (but if it were up to me, I'd make it 3mm smaller). That's just a nit-pick really, since who knows what the manufacturing tolerances were back in the day, or are at the glass factory now: In other words, how your two pieces fit together may be different from mine, which I can't even necessarily attribute to the new beaker. I don't remember ever banging my frame, but who knows, it was made in the UK in the 1980s and may not be 100% circular. Bottom line is that this is a replacement glass beaker that fits in my old frame, so I can drink coffee again. Yay! It seems strong enough, so I'll report back if it lasts 25 years without me accidentally smashing it.
