I surfed the internet when looking for a thermal carafe to hold our coffee. We have recently decided to make French Press coffee. In my search, I saw many models from which to choose. The price range was very wide. The Bodum is a middle range for price, and the best deal was found at Amazon. I choose the Bodum Chambord 34-Ounce because it held the amount of coffee that is produced by my French Press and I find it very sytlish. (Because I am an artist, truth be known, the stylish look was how I made my decision to purchase the Bodum.)I preheated the carafe by filling it with hot water when I started the coffee brewing process. It was the perfect size to hold the brewed coffee. I was amazed that the coffee was still steaming hot after several hours. I poured it into my cup, thinking that I would have to warm it in the microwave, but, it was the perfect temperature. I also love the soft-grip handle.If you need a vacuum thermal carafe that does a great job and has killer looks, this is the product for you.

UPDATE: The sealing cap is ALREADY broken, meaning that it doesn't insulate very well. It's also dangerous, since you might THINK that the carafe is closed, but it actually always open. What a piece of junk. Shame on Bodum.In general, I'm a big fan of Bodum's higher end products. I've owned several Bodum Chambord press pots and I currently own the double-walled Chambord press. It's all good stuff, and on the sorta pricey side. So, I figured this would be more of the same: pricey, but high-quality.This carafe is different. The exterior is a cheap, chintzy, seemingly fragile type of plastic. It's very light, no heft to it, and WAY too expensive for what it is: a $40 piece of ugly, cheap plastic.Don't get me wrong, this critter will keep your beverages hot for a good amount of time (I don't know about 8 hours...) But... I could've bought a cheap Thermos for $10 and I would've gotten the same thing: a crappy, ugly piece of plastic that keeps stuff warm. I'm almost positive that if it fell off my counter, it'd crack in a heartbeat.I'm disappointed in this product. I'd recommend getting something in stainless steel from another manufacturer: Nissan Stainless or something like that.
