This french press is much better looking in reality than the pictures - and it works very well. Looks good, works great, very gift-able too.I think ill get a small one for my Dad, he likes to make 1 cup of coffee at a time, which the small ones are perfect for. A really wonderful coffee maker, no complaints and all smiles!

I have worked as a Barista at Starbucks in College before, and used a lot of Bodum products that they carry. I can safely say this is the best Press I have come across yet, and better than the standard common bodum in terms of overall look and feel. In terms of functionality, its exactly the same. I took the filter apart from this one and compared it to the bodum, and it appears that the mesh is almost the same in terms of mesh size, but the Grosche Boston filter is of a higher grade steel than the Bodum. Its hard to tell but it looks like the Grosche is a 316 Stainless steel (which is a high grade) and the Bodum is a lower grade... its edges will rust if you wash it and leave it wet. You wont be able to tell the rust with the coffee stains all around it, but a friend of mine who worked at Bodum told me they have lowered their filter quality to save money. As far as the functionality, there is no real difference. In terms of the beaker they are about the same, with the grosche being a bit heavier than the Bodum beaker. The Grosche beakers are cheaper to replace than the Bodum as well, about half the price last I checked on Amazon.Plus Grosche has the best service I have found... If you break a beaker in the first few months, I have heard they will even send them to you for free... NOBODY else does that. That's the main reason I went for it, and was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice looking press in addition to the warranty.The chrome on the press is very shiny, and classy too.The only thing I wish was different was that the base design isn't as wide or broad as I would like, making it look less stable than some other designs. But although it looks like that, I dont think there is any functional difference in terms of its stability.All in all, this is about the best french press that I have come across, and probably a couple of notches better than the Grosche Madrid too, which is a top seller on Amazon.

This press worked well while it lasted, but the glass was so thin that it cracked within a few weeks of use. (Not even sure what I did to initiate the crack...) Anyways, ended up being cheaper to order a whole new french press than to buy the replacement beaker, so this ended up being a wasted purchase. Two stars because it does have a very nice, modern design.
