The Rolls Royce (or Citroen) of French Presses
D. Bell

The Hario CafePresso is quite simply the finest french press coffee maker I've ever seen. If you're not an enthusiast of very hot water contacting plastic, then this appliance should become a part of your life. Coffee and H2O contact only heat-resistant glass and stainless steel, making this an exercise in pure, unadulterated brewing. No, it doesn't make a gargantuan cup of Joe, but there's enough for an intimate moment of coffee bliss for one or two. Blacksmith Coffee Roastery was very prompt in shipping and sent along a complimentary bag of their Swedish Morkrost, an excellent coffee roasted and blended in the Swedish style. Swedes know their java. The Hario CafePresso and the Swedish Morkrost were a perfect pairing for my first cup of coffee with this french press. I highly recommend the Hario CafePresso and Blacksmith Coffee Roastery for all lovers of fine coffee. The transaction was made through Amazon, and I couldn't be happier.

Worth the price for some.

The truth of the matter is, the main selling points of this press don't actually produce a better cup of coffee as compared to other quality presses which cost less. It's an attractive design, but that doesn't make my coffee taste better. Its double-walled so in theory it stays hot longer but I don't often let my coffee sit and brew to the point that it could actually get cold, it'd be too bitter at that point anyhow. And sure its steel in all the right places but any quality press will be the same. All that exposed glass makes it as easy, if not easier and more expensive, to break than your standard Bodum press.I have no problem giving 5 stars because it simply continues to do the job well. The filter elements fit together nice and tightly, its small enough that I can easily clean the entire interior and make just enough for a full mug each time.

The very best

There is obviously a danger with a $70 French Press for a great deal of buyer's remorse in spending so much on this. However, as soon as you pull it form the box it becomes clear that this is the finest of its kind out there. The price annoyance will fade over time and you will have yourself the best of something. I also have Hario's 240ml drip maker. This press gives you a heartier and slightly more bitter cup, but great nonetheless.
