The LaCafetiere French Press is an excellent way to make great tasting coffee. If you are not familiar with how a French Press works it is quite basic.1- Boil Water2- Put about a tablespoon of coffee into the French Press (Typically the coffee is a courser grind if it to be used in a French Press).3- Pour boiling water into the the French Press4- Wait 3 minutes and the press down on the plunger.5- Pour yourself a cup of hot coffee! The French Press is relatively easy to clean - simply pour out the unused coffee and then clean out the grinds. The LaCafetiere is a high quality French Press that is solidly built and is nice looking. The built in plunger/filter is effective at trapping the coffee grindings without getting excess coffee trapped in the filter.The Advantages of a French Press-- Great tasting coffee- Pretty quick - less than 5 minutes to prepare the pot- No need for filters our other consumables.- Much smaller footprint for kitchen. When I started to research French Coffee Presses I was determined to buy a Bodum...but...I was given as a surprise gift a RED LaCafetiere Rainbow 8 cup instead. I was NOT disappointed! I purchased organic fairly traded coffee beans from my local coffee company for my first time pot of coffee. I was so happy with the results. It's important to grind the coffee for about 10-15 seconds only, as you don't want the coffee too coarse or too fine. This coffee was enjoyed with a little bit of sugar and to my surprise, no cream or milk needed. I'm very pleased with this coffee press. I can't wait to experiment with different coffee beans to find my perfect brew:-) Do keep in mind that you do not get 8 cups of 8oz coffee. I would say you get about 3 cups of coffee.
