I was a long time, very satisfied user of the La Cafetiere coffee press before accidentally breaking the beaker - perhaps, too long a user. My press must be an earlier model - all stainless steel except the beaker. I have not seen this "Retro" style illustrated in any new La Cafetiere products.The replacement beaker arrived quickly with no problems, but because of the fit and shipping costs, I wished I would have bought a whole new press instead of the replacement beaker.The Fit: The replacement is slightly wider at the base and slightly taller, overall. This creates three major problems. 1) Because of the added width, once inserted in the original holder, it is jammed and can not be removed without breaking. The replacement beaker does not go all the way down to the base of the holder - it "floats" about .25 inch above the bottom. Because of this and the fact that the jammed beaker can not be removed, it is very difficult to clean. 2) Because of the added height of the replacement beaker, the plunger/screen no longer goes all the way to the bottom of the beaker - it rides about .5 inches above the base and thus produces an inferior brew of coffee. And major problem number 3) because it is stuck in my original base, it can not be returned. I have no choice but to throw it all away, along with my money spent on the replacement and exorbitant shipping costs.Live and Learn. Makes you miss the "Brick and Mortar" Stores where you could examine, hold, and evaluate items before purchasing.

While I can't speak to "all" LaCafetiere 3 cup presses, I can say that this beaker was a perfect fit for mine. The original beaker developed a crack in it after a year of use. I was very disappointed because I grew to really love the coffee from it each morning. I finally found this replacement beaker and crossed my fingers. It arrived, lightening fast, and I could not be happier. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
