Have had this for the last few days. It makes good coffee, as I would expect from Bodum. The red plastic matches the photos exactly, and it looks great.With this model the company seems to have attempted a few new tricks I've not seen often - the locking lid does a good job of keeping the heat in, and the switch for pouring helps you pour evenly.The only downside to these innovations is that it makes the overall product unusually hard to use. To take the lid off you need to twist it, and then shimmy it upwards, because something's usually caught along the way, or you want to crack the flimsy plastic top. Most Bodum french press products feel sturdy and robust, but the amount of plastic here feels unusually flimsy. Still, for this price, it's a great item, and will help you make perfect coffee.Note - I had to send for a replacement item. No bubble wrap was included in my packaging, and the flimsy red top arrived cracked. The replacement also lacked appropriate packaging, but was in perfect condition. This review has been based on the replacement.

French press as exactly described. Definately makes better coffee than electric drip machine for another couple minutes of work. For $40, would be nice if it came with a grind catcher at bottom for easy dumping of coffee grinds. Be careful twisting top off as you can easily break/snap he plastic if not aligned properly. Good size, I can make a big American sized cup for myself and make enough for a friend at the same time.

12/26/12I am very careful with this product and never even wash the plastic container, only wipe it off. I recently replaced the glass because of my error. The first time I use it after replacing the glass, the plastic holder cracked. Please advise how I can get a replacement. Otherwise, I really like the product.After further review, the replacement glass does not fit the plastic holder at the bottom. This is why the plastic holder separated.
