Not So Hot Pot

All one has to do is have coffee made by a coffee press once to see how superior the brew made by this method is compared to any brewing method using a filter. I wanted a ceramic coffee press because my glass one chipped at the spout and I thought ceramic would be sturdier. However, the plunger does not fit the inside of the press well enough to keep the grounds from getting into the coffee. I even tried the plunger from my glass press and had no better luck. So I am back to the chipped coffee press and will just have to be careful washing it.

some people are just impossible to please...

yea, so, I'm not really a review 'kind of guy', just wanted to say a few things and help bump up the rating. First off, the 'cups' are 4oz each so it almost looks like child's play set (I ordered it in pink), but if you go into this knowing it's 32oz then that's a pro, not a con (sooo cute!!!). As far as errant grounds are concerned, not only did none escape the plunger/screen contraption but I also just used regular pre-ground coffee, however d&d felt like grinding it, before it wound up on the grocery store shelf. I know. THE HORROR. Anyway, this is my first french press, so technically I have nothing to compare it to, but from what I can tell it's made really well, is going to be way more accident-resistant than a glass one & the only real issue I can see someone having is that even with the lid on, steam can escape through the spout but, from what I've read that may actually be a good thing so it doesn't over extract or burn so. Looks like I'm going to have a lot of experimenting to do! Oh, also, you may get some soot(silt?) or the very last sip of the cup may be a bit like Turkish coffee if you're completely adamant about extracting every last drop of moisture. I hope that is to be expected as its sort of common sense. If it bothers you leave the last fl oz or two in there!! So yea this French press is defiantly where it's at in every way. Ill let you know if it craps out and I totally hate it a month or two from now as I'm sure you can tell we're still in the honeymoon phase.

i love it

I like the classy look. During the first a couple of days, I got a problem of metal plunger which was very loose. Then I finally figured out how to tight it. I enjoy it now. It is a lovely, simple, good looking coffee press.
