I anticipated the silicone sleeve keeping the mug cool enough to hold, but it doesn't - after pouring tea, the mug is much too hot to pick up. And I have tough former-waitress fingertips, so that's saying something.It has a nice hefty weight in your hand, though, which is nice.

Previously I owned the bodum glass cups that were 8 ounce and after a few months, most ended up broken and smashed in one way or another. This removes the need for a vacuum sealed double layer glass cup and gives nice shiny porcelain, the silicon sleeves are on really tight so don't expect them to move around too much or get junk under them. They are also really grippy and sort of water resistant which is good.
